On the contrary, manufactured homes often surpass stick-built homes in quality. Thanks to Computer Aided Drafting and precision cutting of materials, manufactured homes are built to exacting specifications. Furthermore, they are constructed in climate-controlled facilities and engineered to comply with the most stringent building codes, ensuring their suitability for diverse applications.
Absolutely! We're here to help you with that. Installing a home on vacant land involves several steps, often more than most people realize. Purchasing the home is actually the final step. Initially, you'll need to consult with one of our experienced architects for a feasibility study. They will then create plans, obtain permits, and coordinate with our site preparation team. The costs can vary depending on the location and the extent of site preparation required. We typically quote a range of $350 to $550 per square foot for the project.
The primary advantage of opting for a manufactured home is cost efficiency. Manufactured homes offer superior quality at approximately two-thirds the price of a traditional stick-built home. Moreover, while stick-built homes can take one to two years to complete, a manufactured home project can be finished in as little as three months, with most taking around six months. The ability to deliver a complete home in just one or two days offers significant time and cost savings.
An ADU, or Accessory Dwelling Unit, is a separate, self-contained living space often referred to as a backyard home or granny flat. Recently, California has enacted laws that guarantee the right to build an ADU, overriding local regulations, CCNRs, and HOA rules that previously prohibited or discouraged their construction. ADUs can be connected to existing utilities on your property and rented out for additional income. They typically range from 600 to 1,200 square feet in size. For more information, we recommend consulting the State of California Housing and Community Development Handbook on ADUs, available at: https://www.hcd.ca.gov/policy-research/docs/adu_december_2020_handbook.pdf
In most cases, we cannot help with installing a home that was purchased from another dealer or supplier. Be cautious of dealers or out-of-state suppliers who sell only the home, claiming any contractor can handle the installation. Such transactions may leave you responsible for installation without proper support.
We highly recommend purchasing new or used homes from a reputable dealer who is also a C47 licensed contractor, as this license is required for installing manufactured homes. Choose a dealer who can provide an all-inclusive price to avoid hidden costs. While we may occasionally install homes sold by other dealers, we do so on a time and materials basis, with a starting price of approximately $100,000 for a basic installation.
